Our March speaker was Valerie Young who gave us a very interesting talk on "Nursing in the 60's and 70"s. Valerie spoke of the original nursing pioneers, Florence Nightingale, Mary Jane Seacole and Edith Cavell and their impact on the nursing profession as a whole.
Valerie then explained that following her initial nursing training she worked at Stoke Manderville for many years and outlined the amazing work that take place there.
After the usual break for refreshments updates were given from the various clubs and reminders of forthcoming events, in particular the Brockenhurst Group Craft show being held on Saturday 21st March at St Mary Magdalene Church hall in New Milton, and Hordle WI's Spring Fair on Saturday 11th April from 10am-3pm. There will be an excellent selection of crafts on sale together with WI cakes and a Bri-a-Brac stall, refreshments will also be available.
