Our February meeting speaker was Rosemarie Tiffen with her talk entitled "The London Law & Me, my journey to becoming a Judge"
Rosemarie had always wanted to become a Judge from a very young age and she outlined her journey from an Articled Clerk then a Solicitor, running her own practice and then finally becoming a Tribunal Judge, a position she held for ten years.
Her story of "learning on the job" was so interesting and at a time when females were still at a great disadvantage in Law especially for someone who did not start out with a degree. The talk included some of the difficult situations she encountered during her forty years in private practice and on top of all this she lived abroad on occasions and raised a family. Members thoroughly enjoyed the talk and there was a great applause at the close.
After a break for refreshments there were updates from various club groups and a reminder regarding Hordle WI Spring Craft Fair on Saturday 11th April at the WI Hall from 10am - 3pm. There will be an excellent selection of local crafts for sale together with WI cakes, a Bric-a-Brac stall and refreshments will also be available.
